Despite objections to having their photos on the website we thought it would be a great idea to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week by sharing our Apprentices’ stories.

Protocol has taken on Apprentices for 5 years now. Each appointment proved to be a fantastic success, both for the Apprentice and the business. Most often in a business administration capacity, our Apprentices have and continue to be a valuable addition to our teams.

Simon Graham, Director @ Protocol comments; “Protocol has been providing Apprentices with the opportunity to kick start their career’s for a while now. We have found that we gain candidates who are eager to learn and strive to do their best. As a business of course it is fantastic to be able to grow an individual’s professional experience, ultimately developing an ideal employee and what makes it even more worthwhile is that it allows us to support the sector that we work in”.

How long is/was your apprenticeship?
I will complete my apprenticeship in 18 months.

I was planning on going to university, but was unsure of what I wanted to study. The Apprenticeship route was an ideal way of gaining valuable work experience whilst deciding what I wanted from a career.

Was it an easy process?
Most of it was, just like any job hunt I found searching for roles a bit tough but in general the process was simple.

How do you think being an apprentice benefited you/your career?
I’ve managed to get a good start in the working world and now have a much clearer career path than before.

Would you recommend becoming an apprentice to others?
Definitely. Especially to those who have had similar difficulties in deciding what career path they want to undertake.

Any advice you would give to new apprentices?
Be proactive. Join agencies, ask questions and keep searching websites for roles that are ideal.

What is next after your apprenticeship?
I plan to progress my career at Protocol.

David Beynon, Head of Interim Management commented “The interim team at protocol have been very impressed by our own business administration apprentice. Dan has become an important member of the team and is often the first point of contact for our interim candidates and college clients. We hope that at the end of his apprenticeship he will decide to stay with us in the interim team to continue to further his career.”
