Despite objections to having their photos on the website we thought it would be a great idea to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week by sharing our Apprentices’ stories.
Protocol has taken on Apprentices for 5 years now. Each appointment proved to be a fantastic success, both for the Apprentice and the business. Most often in a business administration capacity, our Apprentices have and continue to be a valuable addition to our teams.

Advance NVQ Level 3 in business administration
How long is/was your apprenticeship?
I was an apprentice with Protocol for 18 months before being promoted to Recruitment Consultant.
Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?
Whilst completing my A Levels, working toward going to University I had two part time jobs. A taste of the money and what I wanted to achieve financially was more appealing to me than going to university at the time and an Apprenticeship was a good option.
Was it an easy process?
The application process was easy and simple.
How do you think being an apprentice benefited you/your career?
Being an apprentice gave me the knowledge of the company and the different aspects to it. It also helped me to manage my work load and develop my time management skills as I had to juggle both normal day-to-day work along with collating evidence toward my qualification. My experiences as an apprentice gave me the skill set I needed to become the Recruitment Consultant I am today.
Would you recommend becoming an apprentice to others?
Yes, without a doubt!
Any advice you would give to new apprentices?
The only advice I would give is not to look for the apprenticeship with the best pay but to look into different organisations first and find out what they do. Doing this then allows you to make a decision on whether you can/want to progress within the company and whether you want to start a career within that particular area i.e. Recruitment, Marketing, Sales, etc.
What is next after your apprenticeship?
I have recently had the promotion that I was working towards with regards to my career. I would however; consider furthering my academic studies by going to university, but at the moment I’m happy with what I’m doing.
