The role;
- To provide 1-1, face to face and remote brief therapy to students seeking counselling, working to the relevant professional guidelines (BACP, UKCP) and supporting the activities of the Health and Wellbeing team and wider directorate of Student Services.
- Provide personal counselling to college and university students working within the Health and Wellbeing team (Student Services)
- Where appropriate, liaise with other specialist agencies e.g. GPs, hospitals services, psychiatric support, social workers on behalf of students facing health and wellbeing crisis.
- Keep accurate client notes and records using service software.
- Assist and lead on internal training and awareness-raising initiatives relating to mental health and wellbeing, working closely with internal and external teams.
- To contribute to a range of health and wellbeing initiatives and promotions in partnership with the Guild of Students staff and officers.
- Actively contribute to the Student Services directorate, supporting the development of wellbeing services (online and on campus), promotion, events (such as open days)
Have you got what it takes?
- Post-qualifying paid experience of personal, 1-1 counselling with young people
- Experience of providing brief therapy
- Experience of developing and leading training activities or events to promote and support wellbeing
- Experience of managing a caseload and keeping case notes using a bespoke or proprietary software system
- Minimum Level 5 professional qualification in Counselling
- Accreditation by a relevant professional body (BACP, UKCP, BPS or non-UK equivalent)
