Assistant Director of Finance
Full time Permanent
Salary: £46,120.00 – £51,139.00 per annum

The Protocol Group are working in partnership with a Further Education College who are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Director of Finance to join their team. As Head of Financial Operations, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the college’s day-to-day financial operations. This includes managing a team of four finance staff, preparing accurate and timely monthly management accounts, year-end accounts, and providing financial support for strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the college’s financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Preparing and presenting monthly financial reports, ensuring financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Coordinating the preparation of year-end accounts and supporting external audits.
  • Leading the business planning and budgeting process in collaboration with other departments.
  • Providing financial advice and support to senior management, assisting in financial decision-making.
  • Managing and developing a team of finance professionals, fostering a positive and productive working environment.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A professional accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in managing financial operations, including preparing accounts, budgets, and financial reports.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop a finance team.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems; experience with the Aptos finance system is a plus.
  • Experience working within the education sector would be advantageous.
