A leading FE College is looking for an experienced English Lecturer to join their team. They are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspiring Teacher of English who is passionate about learning and teaching in English at GCSE and Functional skills level 2. Experience of teaching ESOL is desirable but not essential. You will teach a range of students to develop their English skills and qualifications, liaise closely with curriculum teams to ensure that student progress is effective and timely, counsel students and maintain positive behaviours. Staff are involved in Curriculum development to meet the needs of changing demands and College planning.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of grade C in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent), hold or be willing to work towards and achieve, a Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Certificate in Education) or equivalent, along with commitment to, and evidence of, CPD. Your own transport is essential, along with the ability to teach Functional Skills Level 2. Experience of teaching ESOL is desirable, although not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To teach students in English in GCSE and Functional Skills as agreed with the Head of Maths & English.
  • To assess students and monitor progress through effective tracking.
  • Liaise closely with curriculum teams to ensure that student progress is effective and timely.
  • To counsel students and maintain discipline as required.
  • To participate in the recruitment of students including attendance at Shows and Careers Conventions. Vice Principal – Curriculum & Quality
  • To participate in Curriculum development to meet the needs of changing demands and College planning.
  • To participate in internal verification, auditing and other quality monitoring processes to ensure that all learners, customers and clients receive exemplary service and attention at all times.
  • To assist in the maintenance and sustainable development of resources and commercial activities.
  • To attend day and evening meetings, courses, etc. considered to be of benefit to the College and the individual.
